Xiamen Witnesses the Successful Signing of the BPIC Industrial Product Circulation Empowerment Center and the Launch of the BPIC Blockchain Service Platform

On the morning of September 10, The BRICS Forum on Partnership on New Industrial Revolution 2024 was officially opened at the Xiamen International Conference Center. The Forum was co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the People's Government of Fujian Province and co-organized by the BRICS PartNIR Innovation Center (BPIC), Xiamen Municipal People's Government, Fujian Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, and the Center for International Economic and Technological Cooperation (CIETC) of MIIT. The Forum has been included in the official activity plan of the BRICS Russia Year. The forum closely focuses on the theme of “Fostering High-quality Partnership and Embarking on a New Journey of New Industrialization,” including activities such as the opening ceremony, minister roundtable, industrial summit, results release, and thematic seminars. The forum lasted for two days, and during the same period, other events such as the award ceremony of the BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest, the BRICS New Industrial Revolution Exhibition, the Showcase of the BRICS Industrial Cooperation Empowerment Platform, and the Promotion of the BPIC Public Service Platform are also planned, focusing on showcasing the achievements of the BRICS New Industrial Revolution.

During the same period, at the main forum, Mr. Shangguan Feng, member of the party group and deputy director of the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, Mr. Zeng Shengjun, vice mayor of Jimei District People's Government of Xiamen Municipality, Mr. Li Guanyu, party secretary and vice president of the China Academy of Information and Communication Technology (hereinafter referred to as CAICT), and Mr. Peng Lihui, secretary-general of the China Electronic Chamber of Commerce, completed the signing ceremony for the project of the BPIC Industrial Product Circulation Empowerment Center. It marks the beginning of a new journey for the BPIC digital development of trade.

The four parties involved in the BPIC Industrial Product Circulation Empowerment Center will closely focus on the core objectives of “the center focusing on industrial empowerment, commodity display and trading, the platform promoting digital circulation, and the alliance strengthening cooperation ties”. With the help of the BPIC Industrial Product Circulation Operation Center, the BPIC Industrial Product Circulation Platform, and the BPIC Industrial Product Circulation Digitization Cooperation Alliance, the four parties involved aim to build an all-around, multi-level cooperation system. It will accelerate the construction of the BPIC Industrial Product Circulation Empowerment Center, empowering high-quality and high-efficiency circulation of industrial products through trade digitization and promoting the transformation and upgrading of enterprises in the field of the new industrial revolution.

The Official Launch of the BPIC Blockchain Service Platform

The Promotion Conference of the BPIC Blockchain Service Platform was held during this period, which was hosted by the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, and co-organized by the Xiamen Branch of CIETC, Southeast Innovation Center of CAICT, BPIC Standards and Intellectual Property Service Center, BPIC Service Center for the Industrialization of Manufacturing Innovation Achievements, and BPIC Digital Economy Research Center. Under the theme of “Platform Empowering New Industrialization Cooperation and Serving High-quality Partnership”, the event attracted foreign guests from more than 10 countries around the world as well as representatives of local enterprises.

At the meeting, Mr. You Xiaoyu, Deputy Director of the International Department of Institute for Industrial Internet & IoT at CAICT, highlighted the “BPIC Blockchain Service Platform ”. Through ASTRON, the international cross-border data service network of Xinghuo BIF, the platform brings together four core capabilities, including the blockchain network, technical services, interconnection and interoperability of international infrastructures, and application services. The platform aims to provide a trusted cross-border infrastructure for BRICS countries, facilitate digital transformation, and promote cooperation and development in the fields of commodity traceability, supply chain management, and cultural heritage protection. In terms of specific service applications, Mr. You highlighted the BRICS U Code and the BRICS Cultural Heritage Database. Among them, the BRICS U Code, as an innovative application of BRICS industrial cooperation, seeks to become an international brand code serving trade and digital economy cooperation of BRICS+ countries. The BRICS U Code can provide commodity testing and certification, cross-border traceability, authentication, supply chain digital management and other services, aggregating code allocation, testing and certification standards and enterprise digital service system through a unified set of identifier codes. With the BRICS U Code, a new growing engine for the development of high-quality industrial cooperation and brand promotion can be established. The BRICS Cultural Heritage Database, on the other hand, utilizes the tamper-proof characteristics of blockchain to provide a safe and reliable digital storage and display platform for the rich cultural heritage resources of the BRICS countries, thus promoting cultural inheritance and exchange.

The Official Launch of the BRICS U Code Standard Lab

As an innovative application of the Super Node (Xiamen) of ASTRON, the BRICS U Code focuses on the scenarios of cross-border e-commerce, textile and garment processing, cold-chain logistics, supply chain finance, and digital culture, and provides solutions such as document credentials, commodity testing and certification, commodity traceability, carbon traceability and digital management of supply chain. The BRICS U Code is a major attempt to promote in-depth cooperation among BRICS countries in the fields of the digital economy, digital infrastructure, and digital transformation of industries.
